Assistant Finance Manager American Sugar Refining life insurance, sick time, 401(k) United States, Maryland, Baltimore May 11, 2026 The ASR Group family of companies make up the world's largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar. The companies produce a full line of grocery, industrial, foodservice and specialty sweetener products. Across North America, ASR Group companies operate five sugar refineries, located in California, Maryland, Louisiana, Canada and Mexico. In Europe, ASR Group companies operate sugar refineries in the United Kingdom, Portugal, and, with a joint venture partner, Italy. The companies also farm sugarcane and own sugar mills in Mexico and Belize. The ASR Group portfolio includes the leading brands Domino, C&H, Florida Crystals, Redpath, Tate & Lyle, Lyle's, Sidul and Whitworths. ASR Group companies also produce and market Tellus, a single-use, compostable tableware and foodservice product made from plant fibers, including sugarcane.
OVERVIEW
The Assistant Finance Manager position will be an integral member of the Refinery Finance team. They will assist with month end close, provide financial expertise and independently challenge the operations team to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness and reduce costs. They will report to the Finance Manager. This is an ideal role for an ambitious and motivated finance professional who wishes to deepen their understanding of manufacturing, while contributing to a leading global business and growing their career. DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a problem solving and analytical resource for the Finance Manager, Plant Manager, and plant leadership team. Execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing and reporting processes including month end accruals, outstanding purchase orders analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and presentation slides. Support operations team with variance analysis of financial performance, and actions to improve results. Will learn to use the
SAP ERP, SAP
Analytics Cloud, and SAP Procure to Pay software systems. Create the weekly metrics report, support the capital asset approval process and the annual budget and business planning process. Understand the manufacturing process and economics of the plant. Assist the Finance Manager and plant leadership teams to improve EBITDA of the company. Leverage Artificial Intelligence and automation technologies such as Microsoft Copilot and Power Automate to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
WORK EXPERIENCES A
minimum of 4 years of experience in Finance and Accounting OR Licensed CPA with 2+ years public accounting experience OR CMA with 4+ years cost accounting experience
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree Individuals with an associate degree would be considered if they have strong work experience in cost accounting, Information Technology and /or financial closing. MBA or Advanced degrees preferred as well as a CPA (non-public accounting certification) or

LOCATION OF ROLE
Baltimore, MD with relocation possible when opportunities of greater responsibility arise. Some travel to other sites (no more than 10% of time).
SALARY PAY RANGE
$77,500
  • 143,500 plus bonus The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
