full-time Accounting Manager Position Overview Our client, a large publicly traded real estate organization with a significant asset portfolio, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting, operational reporting, and financial compliance activities across a portfolio of assets. This position serves as a key liaison between accounting, operations, asset management, finance, tax, and other corporate functions. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial accounting, interpreting complex operating results, supporting strategic decision-making, and leading a team of accounting professionals. The role offers significant visibility across the organization and exposure to portfolio-level financial performance. Key Responsibilities Lead the monthly and quarterly financial accounting processes for a portfolio of properties, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of operating and financial results. Analyze property performance metrics and financial trends, providing meaningful insights related to profitability, operating expenses, revenue generation, and overall asset performance. Review and validate calculations related to contractual arrangements, including fee structures, lease obligations, owner distributions, and other financial agreements. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting guidance, internal controls, company policies, and relevant industry reporting standards. Partner with operational and corporate stakeholders to investigate accounting matters, interpret financial results, and resolve reporting issues. Supervise accounting personnel responsible for journal entries, account reconciliations, cash activity, and other general ledger functions. Coordinate audit requests and support both external financial statement audits and internal control reviews. Prepare financial schedules, executive reporting packages, and ad hoc analyses for senior leadership and business partners. Monitor key operating indicators and performance metrics utilized in evaluating asset performance. Drive process improvement initiatives designed to enhance reporting efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve data quality. Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and best practices. Participate in special projects and other responsibilities as needed. Qualifications CPA designation or active pursuit of certification is strongly preferred. Minimum of 5-6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate, public accounting, or other similar industries. Prior managerial experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline required.
