MMQCI is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations, reporting, and compliance in a growing organization. Reporting to and partnering closely with the CFO, this role manages the monthly and annual close process, maintains GAAP-compliant financial statements, and supports compliance with accounting standards including ASC 730. Responsibilities also include accounts payable and receivable, payroll coordination, fixed asset tracking, internal controls, system improvements, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and preferably a CPA license and biotech or life sciences experience. What You Will Get to Do General Accounting & Close In conjunction with the CFO, manage and execute the monthly and annual financial close process Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy across all accounts Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Oversee sales tax and state filing compliance Financial Reporting & Compliance Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and internal management reports Support preparation of audit-ready workpapers Ensure compliance with ASC 730 (R D), and other relevant standards Support tax compliance in coordination with external tax advisors, including Maine and federal filings Operational Finance Oversee capitalization and tracking of fixed assets Maintain and enforce internal controls appropriate for a small, high-growth organization Support budgeting and forecasting processes Manage corporate credit cards, expense reimbursements, and vendor payments Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate payroll processing with our third party provider Strategic & Cross-Functional Support Evaluate and implement accounting system improvements as the company grows Identify and escalate technical accounting questions, proposing solutions with appropriate documentation Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience at a public accounting firm, with at least 2 years in a senior or management role Strong technical GAAP knowledge Proficiency with accounting software Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and direct reports Good communication skills, written and oral, and excellent computer skills Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Ability to sit for extended durations and perform continuous computer and keyboard work at a standard office workstation Why You 'll Love Working Here Opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing diagnostic company Collaborative, mission-driven team environment Competitive compensation and benefits Benefits We Offer Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement savings plan Company profit sharing program Paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and sick leave Get to know the MMQCI team!
