Type:
full-time The Accounting Supervisor oversees and supports the accounting team to ensure the timely, accurate preparation and maintenance of financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position is responsible for managing workflows, providing guidance, reviewing work for accuracy, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
? Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Staff Accountants, including workload assignments, task prioritization, and performance monitoring. ? Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by the accounting team. ? Ensure timely and accurate issuance of financial statements according to the company's reporting schedule. ? Monitor and oversee maintenance of the general ledger, cash disbursements, payroll postings, fixed asset records, and other key accounting processes. ? Support the reconciliation of inter-company transactions, bank accounts, and other balance sheet accounts. ? Review variance analyses against budget and ensure significant issues are communicated to management. ? Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements. ? Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to accounting staff. ? Establish and enforce departmental procedures, deadlines, and quality control standards. ? Collaborate with other departments to resolve posting discrepancies and maintain accurate data flows between payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. ? Assist the Director of Accounting in preparing for annual audits by reviewing schedules and documentation before submission to external auditors. ? Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations. ? Act as a liaison between the accounting team and senior management. ? Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting or Senior Management.
