The Accounting Manager is responsible for the leadership, management, and oversight of all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, fixed assets, accounts payable, month-end close, audits, taxes and internal controls for an acute care hospital system. This role ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), healthcare regulatory requirements, and organizational financial policies. The position serves as a key business partner to the AVP of Finance, operational leaders, and executive team by providing accurate financial information, analysis, and recommendations that support strategic decision-making and financial performance improvement. Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills- Strong knowledge of GAAP and healthcare accounting practices.
- Experience with hospital financial statements and healthcare reimbursement.
- Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting.
- Knowledge of internal controls and audit requirements.
- Advanced financial analysis and reporting capabilities.
- Experience with ERP and healthcare financial systems. Leadership Skills

- 5-8+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
- Minimum 2-3 years in healthcare finance or hospital accounting.
- Experience managing financial close, audits, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
- Previous leadership experience managing accounting teams.
- Prior hospital, health system, or healthcare provider experience strongly preferred. ________________________________________ Education Requirements Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Preferred
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or Healthcare Administration.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred.
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or HFMA certification considered a plus. ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation.
- Experience in a not-for-profit healthcare organization.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies.
- Experience supporting bond audits and debt financing.
- Familiarity with physician practices, ambulatory services, and healthcare joint ventures.
- Experience with financial transformation, system implementations, or process improvement initiatives.
