POSITION SUMMARY
Direct the day to day functions of the accounting department including A/P & disbursements, A/R & invoicing, payroll and payroll tax submission. Responsible for inventory, job costing and revenue recognition and timely monthly financial closings. Oversee accounting staff, and other office support services.

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and work papers.
  • Responsible for daily activities leading up to month-end closes.
  • Prepare and process detailed financial statements accurately and timely.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Collect and reconcile monthly inventories with book inventory and project job costing reports.
  • Direct month end closing including reconciliations and adjustments, and prepare financial statements for review by management.
  • Assist with budget preparation and reporting.
  • Assist with the adherence to corporate policies and procedures and developing new procedures as needed.
  • Lead person in invoicing government contracts and interacting with contract auditors.
  • Prepare product bills of materials for use in job and project costing.
  • Prepare job costing reports.
  • Point person for insurance renewals and insurance audits.
  • Perform state business registrations and tax filings as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and collections of receivables.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payments.
  • Perform or oversee timely and accurate payroll processing and cost allocation.
  • Various other duties related to office management.
  • Represent the accounting department to outside parties including customers, suppliers and government contracting personnel.
  • Efficiently work with engineering staff and other departments to collect accounting information and supply them with information when needed.
  • Support implementation of new systems when needed.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
Bachelor Degree in
Accounting:
Required. CPA desired, but not required.
Experience:
3-5 plus years of experience in Accounting Office Support and Management. Required. Experience in accounting management in an entrepreneurial scientific products based company is desired. Experience in developing and writing procedures is a plus. Experience with transition to new accounting system a plus.
Computer Skills:
Fluent in all Microsoft products, with familiarity in using payroll based software platforms. Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
