This is a rare opportunity for an experienced accountant ready to grow beyond project-level accounting into broader corporate finance. You will own core accounting functions such as AR/AP, reconciliations, payroll, and tax coordination while playing a central role in forecasting cash reserves, backlog, and company-wide financial performance. The right candidate will be excited by the opportunity to help build the accounting group from the ground up. You'll develop systems, refine processes, and implement tools that support both growth and scalability. This position is ideal for someone who has been a staff accountant, project accountant, or junior controller in the construction space and is now looking for the next step in their career. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including AR/AP, payroll coordination, journal entries, and general ledger management
  • Prepare and analyze monthly reconciliations, financial statements, and forecasting
  • Collaborate with ownership on cash flow, backlog, and project forecasting
  • Coordinate with tax professionals for quarterly and annual filings
  • Maintain and refine systems for tracking job costs, cost-to-complete, and WIP reporting
  • Develop scalable accounting policies, internal controls, and standard operating procedures
  • Own the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and financial tools
  • Assist in preparing board and investor reporting materials as needed
  • Support audit processes and help prepare for future financial reviews
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on financial strategy and corporate planning
  • Work closely with project teams to track and understand financial performance across active projects
  • Adhere to internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
QualificationsEducation:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA, CMA, or CCIFP certification is preferred but not required
Experience:
  • 7+ years in construction accounting (general contractor or subcontractor experience Required)
  • Proficient in construction ERP software (e.
g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore, etc.) Expertise in construction accounting, job costing, and GAAP revenue recognition
Technical Competencies:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) and other financial analysis tools.
  • Experience with accounting integrations into project management systems (e.
g., Procore, Buildertrend)

Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
