Full-Time, Onsite Salary Range $55,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on education, experience, and skill level Position Summary The Godwin Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost & R&D Analyst to support R&D cost tracking, inventory control, cost analysis, data reporting, and audit-ready documentation within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with spreadsheets, organizing data, preparing basic reports, and learning how manufacturing activity connects to inventory, cost, margin, R&D project support, and financial reporting. Prior exposure through internships, coursework, certifications, or practical business-data projects will be considered valuable experience. This position will work closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production to help improve cost visibility, inventory reporting, project documentation, and internal controls. Training will be provided for company-specific systems, manufacturing processes, and R&D documentation requirements. Key Responsibilities- Assist with tracking and documenting R&D-related activities and costs.
- Help maintain organized files, support schedules, and data summaries for R&D projects.
- Support preparation of R&D tax credit documentation and related workpapers.
- Assist with inventory reconciliations, inventory reporting, and variance review.
- Compile, organize, and validate vendor, inventory, production, or project-related data.
- Create and maintain Excel-based spreadsheets, reports, and tracking tools.
- Help analyze standard costs, cost of goods sold, margin trends, and production activity.
- Use Excel and ERP/Sage reports to prepare recurring financial and operational analysis.
- Prepare simple visual reports, summaries, or dashboards to communicate trends and findings.
- Support month-end close activities related to inventory, cost analysis, and reporting.
- Help develop checklists, documentation, and repeatable processes for inventory and R&D tracking.
- Assist with audit support, CPA requests, and internal control documentation. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Economics, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Entry-level candidates and recent graduates will be considered.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills or demonstrated willingness to quickly develop advanced Excel skills.
- Coursework or practical exposure in business finance, financial accounting, managerial accounting, economics, data analysis, or business computer applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain clear documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both office and operations personnel.
- Willingness to learn manufacturing processes, inventory control, cost accounting, ERP reporting, and R&D documentation.
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines and follow through on assigned tasks. Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, coursework, certification, or project experience in accounting, finance, economics, supply chain, operations, inventory, manufacturing, or data analysis.
- Experience creating spreadsheets, organizing records, compiling business data, or improving data integrity.
- Experience preparing visual reports, charts, infographics, or summaries using business data.
- Excel certification, advanced Excel coursework, or experience with formulas, pivot tables, data cleanup, and reporting.
- Exposure to SQL, data reporting, financial statement forecasting, or other business analytics training is a plus.
- Exposure to ERP or accounting systems; Sage experience is a plus but not required.
- Customer service or team-based work experience demonstrating reliability, organization, communication, and deadline execution.
- Interest in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, inventory management, R&D documentation, or process improvement.
- Accuracy and timeliness of assigned reports, tracking files, and reconciliations.
- Quality and organization of R&D and inventory documentation.
- Ability to learn Sage / ERP reporting and manufacturing cost processes.
- Improvement in recurring spreadsheets, checklists, support schedules, and data files.
- Responsiveness to Accounting, Operations, Engineering, and Production information requests.
- Growth in understanding of inventory, cost accounting, and R&D support processes.
- Ability to identify issues, ask good questions, and help improve reporting accuracy.
