Are you a strategic, detail-driven accounting professional who thrives on turning data into meaningful insights? Do you enjoy collaborating across departments and influencing big-picture financial decisions? If so, we invite you to bring your expertise to the City of Keene as our next Accounting & Fund Manager. In this key leadership role, you'll do more than manage numbers, you'll help guide the financial health and long-term success of City operations. What You'll Do As a vital member of the City's finance team, you'll lead and support a wide range of accounting, budgeting, and financial management activities, including, but not limited to:
  • Preparing and analyzing financial reports, including presentations for City Council
  • Playing a central role in developing both annual operating and capital budgets
  • Serving as the primary financial partner for assigned departments and funds
  • Providing organization-wide financial analysis to support programs, services, and strategic initiatives
  • Leading the annual independent audit process and coordinating across teams
  • Monitoring cash flow, advising on liquidity, and supporting investment decisions
  • Overseeing fixed asset accounting and reconciliation processes
  • Strengthening internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and City policies
  • Evaluating and improving financial systems, processes, and customer service delivery
  • Supporting grant, enterprise, and special revenue fund accounting
  • Managing and supporting the City's financial software systems and cloud-based solutions
  • Leading system improvements, integrations, and data management initiatives
  • Training and supporting staff across departments on financial tools and best practices

Discover More About the Monadnock Region Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or a related field, plus at least 5 years of related experience. A strong understanding of governmental accounting practices and financial operations is essential. A valid driver's license is required. Salary and Benefits This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $78,789- $98,186 annually and will also receive an attractive benefits package which includes low deductible/low-cost health insurance, low-cost dental insurance, State of NH Group I retirement, and other benefits such as life insurance, disability, and paid time off.
