Job Description
Job description The Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Accounting Manager to join our Finance Department. This key leadership role supports the Agency's mission by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations across multiple housing and grant-funded programs. The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, accountability, professionalism, and respect, with a commitment to delivering exceptional, high-quality financial services that add value to agency operations and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and support daily financial operations for Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), Capital Fund, grants, and related programs. Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of financial statements, HUD and regulatory reports, and Financial Data Schedule (FDS) submissions. Coordinate month-end and year-end closings, audits, and regulatory filings. Monitor budgets, analyze variances, and prepare clear financial reports and narratives. Manage grant accounting, cash management, and timely drawdowns. Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to finance staff, promoting accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with internal departments and external auditors to ensure compliance and operational excellence.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting (CPA preferred) Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience, including at least two (2) years at a senior or supervisory level. Strong knowledge of GAAP and governmental or nonprofit accounting. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
