Full-Time, Long-Term Position Summary The Bookkeeper/Financial Administrator is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing the daily accounting functions of the organization. This position manages financial transactions related to cemetery operations, including trust funds, endowment care funds, customer payments, contracts, and financial reporting. The role requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, confidentiality, and adherence to established financial controls and procedures. Due to the sensitive nature of financial records, trust funds, and endowment care accounts, this position requires prior bookkeeping or accounting experience and the ability to perform financial duties accurately with minimal supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Record and maintain all financial transactions in the accounting and cemetery management systems. Prepare and process daily deposits and accurately record receipts and payments. Manage and maintain records related to cemetery trust accounts and endowment care funds. Process and track trust funding transactions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Reconcile bank accounts, trust accounts, investment accounts, and other financial records. Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy. Monitor customer account balances and payment histories. Maintain contracts, funding documentation, and supporting financial records. Generate financial reports and provide documentation for management, accountants, auditors, and the Board of Trustees. Assist with annual audits and financial reviews. Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and reporting errors. Prepare certificates of title and other required customer-related documentation. Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and properly maintained. Maintain strict confidentiality of customer, employee, and organizational financial information. Utilize accounting software, spreadsheets, and cemetery management software to perform daily responsibilities. Cross-train with management and assist with administrative office operations as needed. Perform additional duties assigned by management. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to accurately manage multiple accounts and financial transactions. Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard financial information. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Training and Experience Associate degree in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, business administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration experience required. Experience managing financial records, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting required. Experience handling trust accounts, endowment funds, investments, or other regulated financial records strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality while working independently. Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other financial management systems required. Ability to learn and effectively utilize cemetery management software. Work Environment This position serves as the primary financial administrator for the organization and is entrusted with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records, trust funding, endowment care accounting, and customer financial transactions. Accuracy, accountability, dependability, and ethical handling of financial information are essential functions of this role. •Starting at $20/hr; negotiable based on experience.•
