ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES
The Student Financial Services Manager of Grants and Scholarships will support the Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) by assuming responsibility for overseeing and implementing departmental operations for state, institutional, and external grants and scholarships according to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for awarding aid in order to allocate and deliver financial resources to students, families, and other College constituents in a timely, equitable and coherent manner. This position requires a blend of student financial aid, functional knowledge of federal regulations, state and institutional grants and scholarships eligibility and requirements, as well as analytical and process management skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares financial aid packages based on specific program eligibility and total award amounts; reviews and verifies initial and ongoing student eligibility to receive various program funds; identifies awards available through various sources; combines funds to create a total financial aid award; prepares documentation to release or hold warrants. Keep current with all changes to financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures in relation to federal and state entities. Manages the Federal Work-study program Ensures the college is compliant with all federal and state regulations, and institutional objectives and policies in the appropriate order for awarding state and institutional grant and scholarship aid. Assist the Executive Director to fulfill reporting requirements related to state and institutional grants and scholarships, and other external scholarship and grant programs excluding federal aid. Develop and maintain the College's scholarship website pages and the Portal in accordance with college policies and procedures. Directs the LC Scholarship Committee, as well as coordinates the opening/closing of the Scholarship Portal as well as collects, organizes and maintains student applications for the review and nomination process of all institutional scholarships. Assists with the coordination of scholarship-related events in conjunction Advancement or other offices as it relates department specific grants or scholarships. Oversee the development, procedures, and maintenance of the College's Business Partnership Scholarship programs. Manages the state grant file upload process and the maintenance of student records for state funded programs. Manages the Title IV verification process, including the transfer of student verification files to and from the College's third-party servicer, and sending out communications to students. Prioritize work for self and support staff to meet deadlines for the reporting and reconciliation of state and institutional grants and scholarships. Needs to possess and demonstrate project and time management skills. Other related duties as assigned by Administration.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Exhibit a high degree of professionalism with demonstrated capability to follow through and manage issues and projects. Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with SFS staff, other College departments, external community personnel and customers, including students and families. Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills with extreme attention to detail. Proficient at managing multiple competing priorities and shifting or overlapping deadlines. Possess excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills. Ability to understand and adapt to changing federal, state and institutional rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to find solutions within guidelines of rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to work independently outside of normal business hours (including evenings and/or weekends) to meet deadlines, work on special projects and to support scheduled College events.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree required Master's Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years Financial Aid in a position of providing and supporting quality customer service to students, families and employees in a higher education environment. Experience with PA State Grant and Special Programs. Functional work in a financial aid or student accounts environment is preferred. Experience with computerized financial aid, student account, and billing/payment management systems required (PowerFaids and Jenzabar preferred).
