Creates a partnership with the clinical operations by creating value through their expert counsel which include, but are not limited to, general financial analysis, planning, budgeting, performance improvement, new business or service development feasibility analysis and development of other fiscal management processes to support operations leadership with management of their departments' fiscal performance. Ensures the overall continued financial success of the System in the continuous pursuit of the fulfillment of its Mission.
Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions:
Supports, develops and assists with implementation of Service Line Strategy. Directs and provides financial guidance in support of the business operations and performance management for the Service Lines and Medical Group practices and/or Acute Care operations assigned to the position. Collaborates with Operations Leadership in developing and monitoring relevant financial performance metrics and financial data to determine profitability and identify areas for improvement. Provides financial guidance and support and collaborates with Operations Leadership in managing the revenue and expense functions within their areas of responsibility. Works with other corporate financial service departments and staff to assist with data analysis, reporting, budgeting and in-depth analysis of material financial performance variances. Develops understanding of Provider Compensation program in partnership with the Compensation team, if applicable. Uses that knowledge to support Directors of Operations to be effective in their communication with Providers and management of their pay practices. Expectation is that Operations accurately compensates providers in compliance with policies. Collaborates with other department managers in supporting the operations of the Service Lines and Medical Group practices and/or Acute Care Operations. This includes leading Financial and Operational Meetings. May directly manage Finance Operations staff. This includes oversight of daily responsibilities and financial analysis as well as staff development and performance. Serves as a mentor to team members on the Operations Finance Team. Actively participates as a leader with Employee Engagement within the department. As appropriate, works with other team members on financial projects or process improvement initiatives for the organization.
Common Expectations:
Provides financial orientation, training and education of both operations and finance department staff. Develops, prepares and presents capital and operating budgets for areas of oversight. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations. Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/ service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions. Participates in the selection of outside services (if needed). Provides ad-hoc financial analysis and reports to Senior Management as requested. Continuously assesses and improves work processes and develops standard work documentation, supports effective roll out of that work and assures compliance. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
