Essential Duties and Responsibilities Month-End Close:
Lead the month-end close process for Maryland Hospital Association, Inc, four (4) affiliated companies and a Hospital Preparedness Grant, including the preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded, properly documented, are in compliance with internal policies, and are reconciled within the month-end close timeframe.Account Reconciliation:
Perform and review regular account reconciliations, ensuring the integrity of general ledger balances. Investigate and resolve discrepancies, ensuring that all balances are accurate and in compliance with company policies.Fixed Assets Accounting:
Manage the company's fixed assets, ensuring proper capitalization, depreciation, and amortization in accordance with accounting standards and company policy.Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Provide variance analysis and commentary for management on financial performance.Accounting Software :
Utilize accounting software to enter, monitor, and analyze financial data accurately and efficiently.Audit Assistance :
Support the external audit process by preparing necessary documentation, workpapers, and reconciliations. Assist in addressing auditor inquiries and ensuring timely completion of audit procedures.Payroll :
Support the organization in the execution of timecard and payroll processing. Prepare monthly payroll journal entries which include internal and external allocations of wages and benefits. Calculate 401K employer matching contribution on a bi-weekly basis. Reconcile W-2's at year-end. Ad hocProjects :
Support additional finance-related projects and initiatives as needed. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong background in month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support . Experience/knowledge with both for-profit and not-for profit organizations. Experience in managing accounting processes, and/or accounting staff to accomplish finance or accounting department goals.Qualifications Technical Skills :
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Great Plains or Business Central is a plus.) Sage Intacct or NetSuite also a plus.
- Intermediate Excel skills and a strong ability to work with detailed spreadsheets and financial data.
- Experience in supporting a financial system transition or upgrade is a plus.
Knowledge :
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Attention toDetail :
Excellent accuracy and thoroughness in managing financial data.Organizational Skills :
Strong ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively. Ability to work independently.Communication Skills :
