As a fast-growing AI SaaS company headquartered in New York City's Flatiron District, we are at an exciting stage, scaling our partner network, expanding our customer base, and preparing for the next chapter of our growth. This is a foundational hire that will help shape the financial infrastructure of the company. In this role, you will own the day-to-day accounting operations, lead the monthly and annual close process, and serve as the internal expert on financial reporting and compliance. You'll work closely with our leadership team and any external finance advisors to provide accurate, timely financial information that supports strategic decision-making. You'll also play a critical role in building the processes and controls needed to support the company as it scales, and potentially prepares for a future capital event or public offering. Key Responsibilities Own the full monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements prepared in accordance with
U.S. GAAP.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expense reporting, and cash management across the organization. Prepare and maintain general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting workpapers. Develop and maintain revenue recognition schedules in compliance with ASC 606, including recognition of subscription-based and partner-channel revenue streams. Lead the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages for leadership and the board of directors. Partner with external auditors and tax advisors to support annual audits and tax preparation. Build, document, and continuously improve internal controls and accounting policies to support operational scale and future audit readiness. Assist in the preparation of investor and diligence materials, including cap table management, financial data rooms, and financial reporting for equity rounds or other capital events. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Leadership to provide financial visibility and support budgeting and forecasting initiatives. Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems and tools, including the potential use of AI-powered accounting automation workflows on the Hatz platform itself. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA license required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Solid command of U.S. GAAP, with specific experience in ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription-based businesses and usage-based businesses. Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, or similar cloud-based platforms). Proven ability to manage and execute a month-end close process independently and on schedule preferred. Experience supporting or coordinating annual audits with external auditors. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment with evolving processes and priorities. Good to Have Skills Experience at a venture-backed AI, SaaS or technology startup, particularly one that has navigated a Series A/B fundraise, public offering process, or acquisition. Familiarity with equity compensation accounting (ASC 718), including stock option and RSU accounting and 409A valuation processes. Working knowledge of multi-state payroll and sales tax compliance across U.S. jurisdictions. Experience with MSP, channel-distribution, or partner-led revenue models. Comfort using AI tools and automation platforms to improve accounting workflows — bonus points if you've used or are curious about Hatz AI. Exposure to SEC reporting requirements or public company finance as a plus for candidates interested in supporting a future IPO readiness process.
