Accounting Manager Our client, a mission-driven organization, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee general ledger activities and support financial reporting in a dynamic environment.
Location:
Moraga, CA. This position follows a hybrid work schedule, 4 days/week in the office.
Job Description:
This role partners closely with finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting, strengthen controls, and improve accounting processes. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing close processes and audit support while leading a small team.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate results Support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses Manage and oversee accounting for various funds or restricted accounts as applicable Apply revenue recognition and other accounting standards in day-to-day operations Research and resolve technical accounting issues Develop and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risk Partner with finance leadership to improve accounting policies, procedures, and workflows Enhance financial systems, reporting tools, and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy Oversee and review submissions from internal departments to ensure accuracy and compliance Lead and manage a small accounting team, providing guidance and development
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field CPA or CPA-eligible preferred 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a public accounting background, preferred Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and audit support Understanding of internal controls and process improvement initiatives Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills
