Directly supervise Bond Underwriters and the Bond Underwriting Team Lead, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
Review and approve complex, escalated, or exception-based loan files originated under HFA bond-funded programs, including DPA, and transactions.
Ensure consistent adherence to agency, investor, and HFA program guidelines, including income and purchase price limits, first-time homebuyer requirements, targeted area provisions, and federal recapture tax rules.
Monitor team quality, touch counts, and file aging; identify trends and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
Partner with the VP of Credit Risk on staffing plans, capacity planning, and performance/bonus structures for the Bond team.
Serve as an escalation point for guideline interpretation, program exceptions, and complex credit decisions.
Conduct regular one-on-ones, team meetings, and training sessions to keep the team current on evolving HFA program guides, agency updates, and investor overlays.
Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Compliance to support a smooth borrower and loan officer experience.

We're looking for an experienced Bond Underwriting Manager to lead our Bond Underwriting team, including underwriters and a Team Lead, responsible for evaluating loan applications originated under state and local Housing Finance Agency (HFA) bond programs, alongside standard agency and government products. This role owns day-to-day team performance, quality, and production, while partnering with underwriting leadership to manage risk, ensure compliance with agency guidelines, HFA program requirements, and develop a high-performing underwriting staff. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines deep underwriting expertise with strong people management skills.Location:
