Available Overview A growing global manufacturing organization is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to lead cost accounting and plant accounting activities for its manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in driving financial performance, ensuring accurate reporting, strengthening internal controls, and partnering with operations leadership to improve business results. Reporting to the Director of Operations Controlling , the Cost Accounting Manager will oversee cost accounting, inventory controls, month-end close, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements across multiple manufacturing facilities. For candidates local to Charlotte, this role offers a hybrid schedule after the initial onboarding period, with 2 days per week in the Charlotte office and 3 days per week at the Pageland manufacturing facility after 90 days . Key Responsibilities Lead all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, labor and overhead absorption, and inventory accounting. Partner with plant leadership to analyze manufacturing performance and identify opportunities for operational improvement. Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company policies, and internal control requirements. Oversee inventory processes, including physical inventories, cycle counts, reconciliations, reserve analysis, and monitoring of scrap and obsolescence. Prepare and communicate monthly financial results, key performance metrics, and variance explanations to leadership. Serve as the primary accounting contact for internal and external audits. Support regulatory compliance activities in partnership with corporate finance, tax, and payroll teams. Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to accounting processes, ERP systems, reporting, and documentation. Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, HR, and Finance to support strategic decision-making. Participate in special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing or plant accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of:
Cost accounting Inventory accounting Financial reporting and month-end close Internal controls
US GAAP ERP
system experience. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently while effectively partnering across multiple functions. Preferred Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in a manufacturing environment. Experience with JD Edwards or a similar ERP platform. CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification.
