Job Description

Finance Manager 2.8 2.8 out of 5 stars 225 Main Street, Emmaus, PA 18049 Hybrid work Full-time Altitude Marketing 35 reviews Full-time Altitude Marketing is seeking a full-time Director/Manager of Finance & Business Operations to own the financial and back-office functions of our growing B2B marketing agency. If you have a sharp financial mind, a bias toward action, and thrive in a hands-on role where you'll make a real difference—this job is for you. (Show us why in your cover letter.) About Altitude Marketing Altitude Marketing is a technology-enabled, full-service B2B marketing firm serving niche-oriented businesses in the Life Sciences, Industrial Manufacturing, and Enterprise Technology sectors. We're a hybrid team of 44 people headquartered in Emmaus, PA—and we're proud to be a 4-time Inc. 5000 honoree and a 4-time Best Places to Work firm. We've built a culture that's inclusive, energetic, and grounded in doing great work for clients with complex, compelling products and services. About the Role The Director/Manager of Finance & Business Operations will take ownership of the financial and back-office functions at Altitude Marketing. This is not a CFO role—and it is not a bookkeeping role. We're looking for a sharp, hands-on finance and operations professional with 7-10 years of relevant experience who is ready to step in, run the finance function, manage our bookkeeper, and oversee the systems, vendors, and processes that keep the business running smoothly. Despite our size, we operate with real complexity: retainer revenue, project-based revenue, passive revenue streams, client and engagement profitability, and the financial dynamics of a growing agency. You won't be managing a finance department; you'll be the finance function, supported by a bookkeeper and a network of external vendors and advisors. This role will take key duties off the CEO's plate and provide the financial clarity, analytical rigor, and operational discipline that enable Altitude to grow with confidence. It's as much about surfacing insights and driving decisions as it is about keeping the books clean. Key Accountabilities and Functions Finance & Accounting Manage the bookkeeper and oversee all day-to-day accounting, AR/AP, and bookkeeping—directing and supporting execution to ensure the work is accurate, timely, and improving over time Own our QuickBooks Online setup, maintenance, operation, reporting, workflows, and management Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process Produce monthly financial reporting and management dashboards Coordinate with external accountants Monitor cash flow continuously and proactively flag risks, trends, and opportunities Ensure financial compliance and maintain strong internal controls Respond to ad hoc financial requests from the CEO and leadership team Financial Planning & Analysis Own the annual budget planning cycle Own revenue forecasting and ongoing budget-to-actuals tracking (monthly P&L vs. budget) Go beyond reporting: interpret the numbers, identify what's driving variances, and bring forward recommendations—not just summaries Support 1-year and 3-year financial planning sessions with the leadership team Proactively identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities across the business—and bring a point of view, not just data Evaluate financial processes, tools, and reporting systems—and be willing to redesign them from the ground up where needed Profitability & Pricing Manage overall expense discipline and proactively flag areas for improvement—before they become problems Own client and project profitability analysis and reporting; surface patterns across projects and clients over time Lead project profitability post-mortems and translate findings into actionable recommendations Collaborate with leadership on pricing strategy, bringing financial modeling and margin analysis to those conversations Back-Office Vendor & Contract Management Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration (medical, dental, vision, 401K, profit share), and HR compliance Provide guidance and escalation support when HR or payroll issues arise Oversee hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and a good employee experience Coordinate the performance review and compensation management cycle Direct the office manager on priorities and vendor relationships; provide financial oversight of office-related contracts Manage the landlord relationship and lease-related needs Own the contractual and financial relationship with our outsourced IT support provider Partner with internal tech leads on budgeting for technology needs, software subscriptions, and infrastructure costs Additional Details Hybrid work schedule (in-office at least three days per week at our Emmaus, PA headquarters) Target start date: Q3 2026 Competitive benefits including PTO, profit sharing, 401(k) contribution, and medical/dental/vision insurance Fun, inclusive, energetic culture—4-time Inc. 5000 and 4-time Best Places to Work honoree Location & Schedule 7-10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or business operations Strong financial acumen—you can read a P&L, build a forecast, and explain both to a non-finance audience A process improvement mindset; experience evaluating, redesigning, and implementing better systems and workflows Experience managing or directing support staff and vendor relationships Familiarity with vendor and contract management across operational functions Highly organized, proactive communicator who doesn't need to be chased Experience with QuickBooks Online (or similar) and financial modeling in Excel or Google Sheets Experience in a project-based or agency environment a strong plus At Altitude, we value creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. We believe the best work happens in an environment that's inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination. We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
