‑compliant financial statements. This role partners closely with the Controller and external advisors to support audit, tax, and compliance activities, while applying a strong understanding of TM's business operations to drive continuous improvement in financial accounting and reporting. The Financial Accounting Manager reviews the work of the accounting team, supports effective internal controls, helps maintain consistent accounting policies and procedures, and actively develops and mentors team members to support a strong, scalable, and high‑performing accounting function.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Accounting Leadership & Financial Close Manages and executes the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes, to ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP‑compliant financial reporting. Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team to ensure completeness, accuracy, and appropriate documentation. Prepare and review the financial statements and related supporting schedules; investigate variances and collaborate with the Controller to resolve complex or unusual accounting matters. Identify emerging accounting issues, risks, or control gaps and proactively escalate matters with recommendations to the Controller. Oversee the capital expenditure approval and tracking process to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company capitalization policies, and applicable tax reporting requirements. Audit, Compliance & Controls Support the annual external financial audit and serve as the primary accounting contact for audit fieldwork, and issue resolution. Oversee accounting‑related compliance activities, including coordination of quarterly tax filings and other statutory requirements with external advisors, as applicable. Help develop, implement, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in alignment with GAAP and TM standards. Ensure accounting documentation, reconciliations, and control evidence are complete, accurate, and audit‑ready. Support annual insurance renewal process, including coordinating information requests with internal departments and external insurance brokers. Cash Oversight & Risk Awareness Provide accounting oversight and reporting support of cash activity, including review of cash balances, liquidity schedules, and trends, in coordination with accounting operations. Ensure cash‑related activity is properly recorded and reflected in the general ledger and financial statements. Assess financial statement and disclosure impacts related to cash activity and escalate risks or anomalies to the Controller as appropriate. People Leadership & Workflow Management Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff; support hiring, performance management, and employee development. Plan, manage, and optimize accounting workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability as the business grows. Establish clear expectations and accountability while fostering a collaborative, continuous‑improvement culture within the accounting team. Business Partnership & Continuous Improvement Partner with the Controller, Finance leadership, and cross‑functional teams to provide technical accounting guidance and decision‑ready support. Support budgeting and forecasting activities through account analysis, research, and issue resolution. Apply a strong understanding of TM business processes to identify improvement opportunities and support implementation of process enhancements. Participate in system implementations, integrations, and upgrades as they relate to accounting processes and controls. Additional Responsibilities Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as requested by Finance leadership. Maintain professional and technical accounting knowledge, including awareness of relevant accounting standards and best practices. Support departmental record‑keeping, archiving, and retention practices. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience/Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; advanced degree preferred. CPA designation and/or public accounting experience preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, including people management, in a comparable environment. Experience with accounting for a manufacturing or wholesale organization required. Demonstrated success developing, leading, and managing accounting teams. Experience supporting identification and implementation of process improvements, including leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accuracy. Working knowledge of U.S. tax compliance requirements, treasury activities, and insurance‑related accounting and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
Strong technical accounting knowledge with a solid understanding of
U.S. GAAP.
Understanding tax, treasury, and insurance compliance requirements and their impact on financial reporting and internal controls. Analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Proficiency in using and interpreting data from ERP and associated systems. Strong people‑management skills, including hiring, coaching, motivating, and evaluating performance. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and make sound decisions. Ability to manage competing priorities effectively and consistently meet deadlines. Understanding of CPG and retail grocery industry practices and their impact on financial reporting, close, and internal controls Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self‑directed with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others. Strong team orientation with excellent interpersonal and conflict‑management skills. Technical Skills:
Proficient with accounting and ERP systems such as Dynamics 365 Advanced level skills with MS Office Excel and Word 10-key proficiency Office Hours / Location This position is based in Rohnert Park, CA Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Hybrid role with expected in-office days Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (subject to change) Remote candidates will not be considered Physical / Mental Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Compensation range is:
