We are seeking a person who is creative, energetic,and demonstrates a sincere commitment to providing quality assistance.
This position contributes to the compliance of federal and state regulations, creation and enforcement of office policies, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of student financial aid.
Other relevant experience may be considered. About the Position The salary for this position will be $45,000-$52,000 commensurate with candidate's experience and qualifications. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job will occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs. This position is located on the UVA Grounds in Charlottesville, VA. This is a exempt-level, benefited position; learn more about UVA Benefits . Charlottesville, VIRGINIA Student Financial Services seeks a Financial Aid Administrator to provide comprehensive and quality administration of financial aid for all undergraduate students.We are seeking a person who is creative, energetic,and demonstrates a sincere commitment to providing quality assistance.
This position contributes to the compliance of federal and state regulations, creation and enforcement of office policies, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of student financial aid.
JobDescription/Responsibilities:
Awardfederal,state,institutional,non-universityresources Determineand award students based on their financial aideligibility to receive funds based on federal/state regulations, institutional policies, and donor requirements. Accurately award funds according to federal and institutional need ensuring federal, state, institutional, and non-university resources are applied appropriately. Participate in quality control efforts to determine if award packages are correct and follow standard packaging rules. Utilize and record professional judgment on a case-by-case situation to provide the student with the best award package for unique circumstances. Prioritize workload according to department deadlines for specified cohorts and monitor awarding queues to minimize delays. Regularly document awarding comments within the imaging system and/or student information system. Participate in the testing of awarding tools, revised packaging formulas, modified workflow queues, and accuracy of new reports.Awarding/scholarshipactivities:
Assist in the resolution of inquiries made by students/parents or other university departments utilizing clear communication methods and follow-up. Act in a backup role forscholarshipactivities during peak periods or personnel absence. Extract datafromscholarship letters, mailed checks, emails, and other forms of documentation to be recorded into the imaging system and used for awarding purposes. Process scholarship/grantcertification requests. Document awarding processes to be used as standard operating procedures. Participate in projects and initiatives to improve efficiencies within Student Financial Services. Participateinfinancialaidmethodologydiscussions,planningofaidyearrollovermaintenance,anddepartmental trainingopportunities.RequiredQualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degreepreferred; however, relevant experience may be considered in lieuofa degree.Experience:
At least two years of financial aid experience.Other relevant experience may be considered.
