(100% Remote) Financial Systems Director Job Description The Financial Systems Manager leads the strategy, governance, and performance of financial systems that support the Accounting and Finance organization. This role owns the long-term architecture roadmap for financial applications and drives optimization, standardization, and automation of key finance processes. The position partners closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, compliant, and efficient financial systems, while guiding transformation initiatives from concept through implementation. The Financial Systems Manager also provides leadership to financial systems resources and offers strategic insights to executive leadership on system investments and long-term capability building. Responsibilities Lead the overall strategy, governance, and performance of financial systems that support the Accounting and Finance organization. Own and evolve the long-term architecture roadmap for financial applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, compliance, and alignment with business priorities. Serve as the senior business leader for financial systems optimization, driving simplification, standardization, automation, and efficiency across key finance processes. Lead enterprise-wide financial systems projects and transformation initiatives from concept through implementation, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, adoption, and post-go-live support. Partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, IT, Internal Audit, and other cross-functional stakeholders to define business requirements and build technical solutions that support operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance. Establish and maintain governance, policies, standards, and systems guidelines to ensure financial systems remain compatible with accounting principles, internal controls, and organizational mandates. Oversee the identification, prioritization, and resolution of production issues and system challenges, ensuring thorough root-cause analysis, appropriate escalation, and sustainable corrective actions. Direct the evaluation, enhancement, and integration of financial systems, including support for process redesign, systems connectivity, and technical enablement across the broader finance ecosystem. Lead the development of scalable training, documentation, and change management programs to improve adoption, user competency, and process consistency across the organization. Provide leadership and direction to team members and functional resources supporting financial systems, ensuring clarity of roles, development of capabilities, and strong execution against priorities. Develop and monitor key performance indicators, project milestones, and operational service expectations related to financial systems health, optimization, and business value. Act as a change agent by challenging legacy processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and advancing innovative solutions that enhance the effectiveness of the Finance organization. Support executive leadership with strategic insights, recommendations, and decision support related to financial systems investments, prioritization, and long-term capability building. Essential Skills 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance systems, business systems, or related functions. 5+ years of leadership experience overseeing financial systems, process optimization, transformation initiatives, or related teams. Demonstrated experience leading complex system implementations, enhancements, integrations, and process improvement initiatives. Experience partnering across technical and non-technical teams to drive alignment, prioritization, and execution. Strong familiarity with financial controls, internal control frameworks, compliance requirements, and system governance practices. Expertise with financial systems and optimization software, including ERP platforms. Experience with Oracle or comparable ERP systems. Experience with Blackline or similar financial close and reconciliation tools. Background in finance and audit, with a strong understanding of accounting principles. CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification. Experience in a retail environment of comparable size. Proven ability to lead strategy and act as a senior business leader for financial systems. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and communicate effectively across the organization. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a high-growth or transformation-focused environment. Demonstrated ability to design and implement governance, policies, and standards for financial systems. Experience developing training, documentation, and change management programs for financial system users. Ability to interpret and apply accounting principles within financial systems design and configuration. Comfort operating in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders. Interest in contributing to a purpose-driven organization focused on improving patient and associate experiences. Work Environment This role operates in a fully remote work environment, with schedules aligned to non-West Coast hours. The position reports into a senior finance transformation leader and includes direct leadership responsibility for at least one financial systems manager-level resource. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $115.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
