This Nonprofit Audit and Accounting Manager will play a key role in managing client engagements, supervising staff, improving operational processes, and ensuring high-quality audit and accounting services for several mission-driven organizations. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced nonprofit accounting professional who is ready to transition from primarily technical execution into a broader leadership role focused on team development, client relationships, and strategic oversight. Position Highlights Approximately $100,000 annual salary Mostly remote hybrid schedule 30 to 35-hour workweek Monday through Friday schedule Leadership opportunity with significant influence on firm operations and client service Mission-driven environment serving nonprofit organizations 401(k) plan available Key Responsibilities The Nonprofit Audit and Accounting Manager will: Lead nonprofit audit engagements and oversee the preparation of audit work papers. Review accounting records, financial reports, and client deliverables for quality and accuracy. Prepare and review Form 990 filings and support nonprofit compliance requirements. Supervise, mentor, and train accounting and bookkeeping team members. Monitor engagement timelines and ensure client deadlines are met. Develop and improve reporting packages, workflow processes, and operational efficiencies. Support proposal development and client relationship management activities. Serve as a trusted advisor to nonprofit clients and organizational leadership. Required Qualifications To be successful as a Nonprofit Audit and Accounting Manager, candidates should possess: Public accounting management experience or controller-level leadership experience. Strong nonprofit accounting and auditing expertise. Experience preparing and reviewing Form 990 filings. Knowledge of nonprofit accounting regulations and reporting requirements. Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and developing staff. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, sorting, tables, and data analysis. Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft-based business applications. Preferred Experience Experience serving 501(c)(3) organizations. Background supporting faith-based, religious, or mission-driven organizations. Ability to balance technical accounting expertise with client-facing leadership responsibilities. Experience implementing process improvements and operational enhancements.
