Property Accounting Manager Boston, MA (Hybrid) About the Opportunity A rapidly growing real estate investment and asset management firm is seeking a Property Accounting Manager to join its corporate accounting team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth organization that continues to expand its portfolio through acquisitions and strategic investments. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this individual will oversee the accounting operations for a portfolio of real estate assets while helping to improve processes, mentor team members, and support the continued growth of the accounting function. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process for a portfolio of real estate properties. Review and prepare property-level financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure the accuracy of general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and intercompany transactions. Oversee CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, lease-related accounting, and reserve activity. Partner with Asset Management and Property Management teams to analyze operating results, explain variances, and improve financial performance. Review budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting while assisting with annual business planning. Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external auditors and tax advisors. Develop, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls as the organization continues to scale. Mentor and review the work of junior accountants while helping build a high-performing accounting team. Participate in acquisitions, property transitions, and integration of newly acquired assets into the accounting environment. Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on property or real estate accounting. Previous experience managing or mentoring staff is highly preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP and property accounting principles. Experience preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting month-end close. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across Accounting, Asset Management, Operations, and executive leadership. Advanced Excel skills required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Yardi property management/accounting software. CPA or CPA-track is a plus. Experience supporting residential, industrial, multifamily, office, or mixed-use real estate portfolios.
