Regulatory Accounting Manager (Houston) Avisto Mangement LLC Houston, TX Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Opportunities for advancement Life insurance Qualifications Oil & gas Tax reporting management Accounting Full Job Description Role and Responsibilities We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead regulatory compliance and reporting services for oil and gas operators across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and North Dakota. This role requires a hands-on regulatory expert who understands the full lifecycle of oil and gas compliance, from permitting and account setup through routine reporting, audits, taxes, royalties, and production compliance. The successful candidate will build new regulatory processes, lead client implementations, mentor team members, and ensure service excellence across multiple jurisdictions.
JOB DUTIES
Regulatory Oversight & Reporting Strategy Lead onboarding of new oil and gas operator clients. Establish regulatory, severance tax, royalty, and production reporting accounts from inception. Design reporting processes and controls. Act as senior advisor to oil and gas operators regarding compliance requirements. Identify risks, discrepancies, process gaps, and implement corrective actions Team Leadership Lead and develop a team of approximately 3-8 regulatory specialists and analysts. Coach and mentor staff members. Review work output and ensure quality standards are met. Manage workload distribution and client assignments. Process Improvement & Technical Leadership Develop detailed process manuals and SOPs. Create scalable workflows for recurring compliance and reporting tasks. Identify process improvements and automation opportunities. Ensure regulatory compliance across all assigned jurisdictions. Skills Advanced Excel and data analysis skills Strong understanding of internal controls and audit readiness High-level communication, problem solving and critical thinking Ability to manage multiple priorities, clients, and deadlines Strong communication skills (client-facing and regulatory-facing) Self-directed with high ownership and accountability Focus on automation, process improvement, and efficiency Experience with outsourced accounting or consulting environments. Exposure to automation technologies and workflow tools.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
7+ years of oil and gas regulatory, production accounting, or revenue accounting experience. Deep knowledge of Texas, Louisiana, and Rocky Mountain state reporting requirements. Proven experience setting up new regulatory accounts with state agencies. Strong understanding of severance taxes, royalties, production reporting, and permitting requirements. Prior management experience preferred. Strong process documentation and workflow development skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and multiple clients simultaneously.
