Job Description
Bookkeeping Manager Watertown, SD | Full-Time | Onsite Preferred Ledgers is seeking an Accounting Manager - Bookkeeping Services to lead our Bookkeeping team using the EOS® leadership model of Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable (LMA). This role is responsible for developing team members, ensuring high-quality client work, overseeing new client onboarding, and driving accountability to department goals, Core Processes, and company standards. You'll partner closely with our Operations Coordinator, who oversees workflow administration, reporting, and operational follow-up, allowing you to focus on leading people, improving quality, and supporting our clients. This position offers a defined growth path to Director of Accounting as our firm continues to grow. What You'll Lead You'll lead a department responsible for:
- Monthly bookkeeping services
- New bookkeeping client onboarding
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Payroll processing
- Sales tax preparation and filing
- Month-end close activities What You'll Do
- Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable (LMA) the Bookkeeping team.
- Maintain ownership of a select portfolio of client engagements while leading and developing the team.
- Oversee the onboarding of new bookkeeping clients, ensuring a smooth transition, accurate setup, and an exceptional client experience.
- Train, onboard, coach, and develop team members.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and timely client deliverables.
- Lead department planning through the Scorecard, Rocks, and Level 10 Meetings.
- Drive accountability to EOS®, Core Processes, and company standards.
- Serve as the technical resource for the Bookkeeping team and assist with complex client situations.
- Partner with leadership to improve processes, capacity planning, and client service. What You Bring
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Leadership, coaching, or mentoring experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and month-end close.
- Experience with QuickBooks; public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
