Directs the accounting staff that prepare financial statements and business activity and forecasting reports and tax filings. Monitors accounting data. Implements and manages accounting policies and procedures. Advises management with regard to finance decisions.
We are seeking an experienced Accounting & HR Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting, payroll, human resources, and administrative functions of a growing organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting and employment regulations, and supporting leadership through financial reporting and operational administration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, cash management, and general ledger maintenance. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting, reconciliations, and close processes. Monitor job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, inventory, profit and loss reporting, and construction draws. Support budgeting, cash flow analysis, interim financing, commissions, notes receivable, and sales tax oversight. Process payroll, including time entry, payroll tax reporting, 401(k) administration, and payroll issue resolution. Administer employee benefits, workers' compensation claims, HR compliance, employee relations, and personnel records. Coordinate insurance administration, including workers' compensation, builder's risk, driver records, and vendor insurance compliance. Manage banking relationships, deposits, lines of credit, and authorized account signers. Serve as the primary liaison for accounting software and outside accounting support. Participate in leadership meetings and provide administrative support as needed. Perform additional accounting, HR, and administrative duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 6+ years of accounting experience with strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 2+ years of payroll administration experience preferred, including payroll tax reporting. 5+ years of HR experience. Experience with weekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll tax reporting. Experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, job costing, inventory accounting, and commission tracking. Experience administering workers' compensation insurance, employee benefits, and HR functions. Working knowledge of HR compliance, onboarding, benefits administration, safety programs, and fleet compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with Sage 300 or similar ERP/accounting software preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
