full-time Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking an experienced accounting professional with a strong government contracting background and expertise in Deltek Costpoint. We are seeking an Accounting Manager to play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely month-end close, and continuous process improvement initiatives. Position Summary The Accounting Manager will oversee core accounting functions and support the Controller in maintaining the integrity of financial data and compliance with government contracting regulations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage month-end close activities, prepare financial reports, perform reconciliations, and identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and controls. Government contracting experience and Costpoint proficiency are required. Public accounting experience is a plus. The role aligns closely with GovCon accounting environments that emphasize financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, compliance, and process improvement. Key Responsibilities Manage and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting. Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages. Analyze financial results and investigate variances. Support external audits and government contract compliance requirements. Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Partner with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and increase efficiency. Leverage Deltek Costpoint to improve reporting, streamline workflows, and enhance data accuracy. Support ad hoc reporting, special projects, and strategic finance initiatives. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Government contracting industry experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices. Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint. Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Public accounting foundation (audit or advisory). CPA or CPA candidate. Experience supporting DCAA audits, FAR/CAS compliance, or government contract accounting environments. Demonstrated success implementing process improvements and strengthening internal controls. These skills are commonly associated with successful GovCon accounting leaders and Costpoint-driven environments.
