Job Description

Knight Transport LLC is a long-standing heavy haul and flatbed trucking company based in Washington. We are looking for a strong Accounting Manager / Full-Charge Bookkeeper to take ownership of day-to-day accounting, payroll coordination, vendor payables, reconciliations, and financial process discipline. This is a hands-on role. The right person will be comfortable working inside an established business that is actively cleaning up processes, improving visibility, and building better controls. We need someone accurate, organized, accountable, and willing to own the details. Position Summary The Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting payroll and payroll liability visibility, managing vendor invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, and helping leadership improve financial reporting and operational controls. This position works closely with company ownership, outside CPA support, dispatch, safety, service, and administrative staff. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day accounting activity in QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop. Enter and maintain vendor invoices accurately and timely. Track accounts payable and support vendor payment visibility. Maintain vendor records and resolve invoice or statement discrepancies. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payroll liabilities, and balance sheet accounts. Support payroll processing, payroll journal entries, and payroll liability tracking. Help ensure payroll taxes, garnishments, child support, and other withholdings are properly tracked and paid. Maintain clean documentation for invoices, payments, deposits, and adjustments. Support month-end close and provide accurate financial information to ownership and CPA firm. Assist with balance sheet cleanup and account classification. Communicate clearly with vendors, employees, and leadership. Identify process gaps and help build better accounting controls. Maintain confidentiality with payroll, employee, vendor, and financial information. Required Qualifications Strong accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience. Experience with QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Enterprise. Strong understanding of AP, payroll liabilities, bank reconciliations, credit card activity, and balance sheet accounts. Ability to reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies. Strong Excel skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and follow through without repeated reminders. Comfortable working in a company where processes are being improved and documented. Preferred Qualifications Experience in trucking, transportation, construction, logistics, equipment, or another asset-heavy business. Payroll accounting experience. Experience working with outside CPA firms. Familiarity with vendor statement reconciliation. Experience cleaning up accounting records or improving accounting processes. Understanding of DOT, fleet, fuel, insurance, or equipment-related cost tracking is a plus. The Right Fit We are looking for someone who is steady, reliable, and detail-oriented.
