Job Description

Responsibilities:
Works under the general supervision of the Finance Director, Finance Accounting Manager, or designee. Performs various technical accounting services for the Finance Department. Provides a variety of services associated with accounts payable and payroll operations. Processes payment of invoices, travel forms, and City credit card uses; verifies purchase orders, supporting documentation, and required approvals. Evaluates and processes invoices, payroll action items, leave requests, garnishments, direct deposits, tax payments, and other payroll deduction items while ensuring compliance with City policies and procedures. Researches and resolves discrepancies involving invoices, payroll, and financial records by working collaboratively with departments and vendors. Prepares, examines, and analyzes payroll, invoices, tax documents, quarterly payroll reports, 1099 reports, and other records required for annual audits and regulatory reporting. Serves as the Petty Cash Custodian by verifying, maintaining, and replenishing petty cash funds. Responds to internal and external customer inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and payroll matters while providing courteous, prompt, and professional customer service. Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information. Supports the relationship between the City of Nogales and the general public. Performs special projects and other duties as required or assigned.
Education, Certification and Requirements:
Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration, or a related field. Two (2) years of accounting experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Spanish language fluency. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration, or a related field. Governmental accounting experience. Valid Arizona Driver's License.
Salary/Classification:
