Job Description

Job Summary The Bethel Church Contributions Specialist plays an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the Finance office. The position is responsible for receiving and accurately recording contributions and other receivables, reconciling donor records and accounting entries, and processing merchant processor receipts. The Contributions Specialist also supports donor service, deposits, wire payments, contribution reporting, and other administrative needs of the accounting office while maintaining strong internal controls and confidentiality.

25 hours per week
Compensation:
$22.00-$24.00 per hour Job Requirements Receive and count contributions and other receivables, including counting cash in accordance with established internal control procedures. Ensure accurate data entry of checks and cash received, reviewing envelopes and checks for designations, notes, and instructions. Copy and maintain documents received with donations and coordinate with Security to arrange bank deposits. Create and submit journal entries from Rock into the Intacct General Ledger and reconcile Rock donor records with Intacct entries. Deposit non-contribution-related receipts and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure accurate allocation of funds received. Prepare contribution reporting; manage the office deposit box; and process all wire payments received. Assist with the giving email address and provide excellent, timely customer service to internal and external donors, including answering donor phone calls. Maintain the ATM and manage the Cash Counting Room schedule with various departments. Maintain financial security by complying with internal controls and protect organizational information by keeping it confidential. Update job knowledge through continuing education opportunities and perform other administrative duties as needed for the accounting office. High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to process financial transactions and data accurately. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets and ability to learn new financial and donor-management software. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to providing excellent service to donors and internal departments. Ability to handle cash, checks, donor records, and other sensitive financial information with discretion and confidentiality. Demonstrated reliability, integrity, and adherence to established internal controls and financial procedures. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of the Finance team. Ability to meet the physical requirements of this position (see attached) Ability to pass a background check Preferred Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. Basic understanding of accounting principles, including deposits, reconciliations, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions. 1-2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, banking, cash handling, accounts receivable, contributions processing, or a related administrative finance role. Experience with Sage Intacct, Rock RMS, or similar accounting and donor-management systems. Intermediate Excel or Google Sheets skills, including formulas, filtering, sorting, and reconciliation of larger data sets. Experience working with donor-designated contributions and understanding the importance of accurately recording donor restrictions or designations.
