Paralegal Specialist III - Financial Litigation/Debt Collection (DOJ Contract) Legacy Management Solutions - 5.0 Jackson, MS Job Details Full-time | Contract $41,392 - $81,913 a year 20 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Productivity software Full Job Description We are seeking a Paralegal Specialist III to support the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO), Southern District of Mississippi in providing financial litigation and debt collection support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs). This position plays a critical role in supporting federal legal actions involving debt collection, enforcement of judgments, financial litigation, and legal case management. The selected candidate will work directly with AUSAs and government stakeholders to assist with post-judgment enforcement, debtor investigations, legal document preparation, and case tracking. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional seeking hands-on exposure to Department of Justice (DOJ) operations and federal litigation support. Key Responsibilities Prepare legal documents including motions, writs of execution, garnishments, and other legal filings related to debt collection and post-judgment enforcement Conduct interviews with debtors, employers, and agency officials to support financial litigation efforts Review, summarize, and analyze debtor financial information and recommend legal actions Research and summarize legal precedents relevant to assigned cases Monitor debtor assets, liabilities, credit records, and public records Process debt collection claims referred by client agencies Support enforcement of criminal and civil judgments, including collection activities Maintain case files, databases, reports, and legal tracking systems Ensure deadlines for pleadings, reports, correspondence, and filings are met Serve as a point of contact regarding assigned financial litigation matters Coordinate with the U.S. Probation Office and other agencies regarding debt collection status and payment capabilities Provide general legal and administrative support to Assistant U.S. Attorneys (AUSAs) Minimum Qualifications Associate degree (2-year) in Paralegal Studies OR a 4-year degree with an additional paralegal certificate Experience in asset tracing, asset seizure, and judgment enforcement Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document preparation Ability to pass a government background investigation Valid U.S. Driver's License and reliable transportation (or government-issued identification with reliable transportation) Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Accounting or financial analysis background Experience using legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis Prior experience supporting litigation, collections, legal operations, or government legal teams Work Environment On-site position in Jackson, Mississippi Full-Time -
Government Contract Contract Term:
Base Year with Four (4) Option Years 40-hour work week 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch) Limited telework may be available with prior approval Federal holidays observed Occasional local travel may be required with government approval
