Position Location This position is located onsite at the NASA Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. Job Overview Nova Space Solutions (NSS) is seeking a Financial Specialist to support the financial operations of its NASA contract at Stennis Space Center (SSC). This role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), financial reporting, and government contract support. The successful candidate will work closely with operations and leadership teams to ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and effective management of contract resources.
Responsibilities Essential Job Duties:
Process payroll, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), expense reporting, credit card reconciliations, and fixed asset activities
Assist with budget development, forecasting, and cash flow planning
Monitor financial performance and analyze trends, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
Prepare financial reports, management presentations, proposals, and ad hoc analyses for leadership and stakeholders
Support preparation and submission of government contract deliverables and financial reporting requirements
Prepare account reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy
Develop and maintain financial databases, records, and reporting systems
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Research complex financial issues and recommend practical solutions
Support audit requests and compliance reviews
Perform other duties as assigned
Key Responsibilities:
Support the financial management of NASA contract operations at Stennis Space Center
Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, accounting standards, and applicable regulations
Provide financial analysis and reporting to support operational and management decision-making
Partner with operational leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Maintain accurate financial records, systems, and reporting tools
Support internal and external audits
Coordinate financial activities across multiple projects and stakeholders
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
Job Requirements Mandatory:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, finance, project accounting, government contracting, or related financial operations
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to research financial issues and develop practical solutions
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain accurate financial records and reporting
Ability to build effective working relationships with operational leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
Valid driver's license
Ability to obtain and maintain required NASA site access and credentials
Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing
Preferred:
Experience supporting NASA, Federal, or government contractor environments
Experience with government contract financial reporting and deliverables
Experience with project accounting, cost tracking, and budget management
Experience with Oracle or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Experience supporting audits and compliance activities
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and financial reporting
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in an office environment
Frequent interaction with project teams, operational leadership, customers, and corporate support functions
