Job Description
NOW HIRING A PAYMENT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST!
- MUST reside near Pittsburgh, PA / Greensboro, NC / Middletown, PA / Columbia, SC
- The Payments Operations Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely processing of incoming and outgoing payments across multiple channels, including ACH, wires, foreign checks, positive pay/corporate share drafts, and other payment services.
Day:
- Process daily payment transactions, including ACH, wire transfers, foreign checks, positive pay/corporate share drafts, and other payment types in accordance with procedures and SLAs
- Monitor payment queues, exceptions, failures, suspicious activity, and escalate as needed
- Review OFAC alerts, including evaluating potential sanctions matches and documenting rationale
- Monitor ACH and wire activity for fraud indicators, anomalies, unauthorized activity, and unusual transaction patterns
- Research and resolve payment exceptions, failed transactions, duplicate payments, unauthorized entries, recalls, traces, returns, and misdirected funds
- Perform daily reconciliation and balancing of ACH, wire, and positive pay/share draft transactions against general ledger accounts
- Compile billing data for payment processing services based on transaction volume and fee schedules
- Generate routine and ad hoc reports related to payment volumes, settlement activity, OFAC testing, NCUA reporting, and audit/compliance requests
- Maintain/update procedures and tracking tools used by the Payments Operations team
- Partner with internal teams including support, accounting, compliance/risk, account management, and payments support
- Provide backup support, training, and subject matter guidance on payment processing topics as needed Additional Skills & Qualifications Required Experience
- High school diploma/GED required
- 3 to 5 years of experience in payments operations, payment processing, banking operations, credit union operations, or a related financial services function
- Working knowledge of payment channels such as: ACH, Wire transfers, Positive pay/corporate share drafts, Instant payments, International wires, Foreign check collection.
- Familiarity with applicable rules and regulations, including: NACHA Operating Rules, OFAC, BSA/AML, Reg CC, UCC Articles 3, 4, and 4A, Emerging payments regulations
- Experience with payment investigations, transaction exceptions, reconciliation, fraud monitoring, and/or OFAC screening
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and Office 365
- Experience using payment processing platforms, core banking systems, OFAC/sanctions screening tools, ACH fraud monitoring tools, or similar systems Certifications Candidate must obtain at least one payments industry accreditation within 24 months of hire.
Relevant certifications include:
AAP NCP AFPP APRP
Existing certification is a plus but not required. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Greensboro, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $47840.00- $58240.
