Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Financial Specialist (FS) are responsible for strengthening the members' relationship by offering products and services that best fit their needs. This individual is to be highly motivated, positive, outgoing and has an influential personality with a strong emphasis on sales and successful results. They are to ensure the Credit Union maximizes Lending, Member Services and sales opportunities for those who apply for credit and/or a new account. Through clear and effective communication with members and all levels of staff, they will work as a team to deliver a positive experience to all members and non-members of Centricity Credit Union. Utilizing technology, Financial Specialists will become proficient in moving the membership towards a technology-based culture.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Opens New Accounts and Loans in person or online. This includes any changes or updating of the account as well as collecting/scanning in proper documentation. Commands a thorough knowledge of our Lending and New Account Process from application to closing of the loan and/or new account. This individual will have a great understanding of our core and ancillary products and will confidentially speak about what the Credit Union has to offer. Assess members' needs and deliver products and services that benefit them by emphasizing solution-based recommendations, including additional lending options, deposit services, loan recapture, and outbound calling efforts. Establish good calling practices to ensure timely and frequent follow-up with members. Ensure open communication with members by uncovering potential financial opportunities, which overall will help to increase current and future lending and deposit growth goals. Direct and Indirect Loans - Uses strong interpersonal skills and a sales orientated approach to consistently achieve lending goals both as a team and on an individual basis. Can overcome objections by showing value of ancillary products based on applicant's individual needs. Prepare loans and new account paperwork appropriately and schedule the closing appointment with the member. Ensure all loans and new accounts are coded and booked accurately as well as providing the members with the proper member disclosures and documents. Uploads signed documents into the members account accurately, prepares and sends out Adverse Actions all in a specific timeframe per our lending compliance guidelines. Assist members in all account activities such as: discrepancies within their account, questions about their account, debit card issues, ACH, wires, Online Banking, Stop Payments, etc. Deescalate upset members by identifying the issue and effectively address their needs and concerns. Back up Lending Support Specialist, as needed. Provides lien releases as needed, facilitates GAP and Warranty claims/questions, assists in the processing of Indirect Loans, and any other duties as needed for department functionality. Correct any loan files that are sent back from being audited. Ensures accuracy and accountability for own work. Other duties as needed.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Work is completed accurately and timely. Errors or discrepancies are promptly researched and resolved. Personal and department goals are consistently met or exceeded. Good working relationships exist with Credit Union personnel and management. Management is appropriately informed of area activities. Workflows and assignments are completed in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Excellent communication skills used with members and staff members. Ensure responses to member or staff member questions are timely. Attendance at professional growth training.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High school graduate or equivalent
Required Knowledge:
Knowledge of credit union policies and procedures. Knowledge of credit union products and services; both in Member Services and lending. Understanding of Credit Union Lending and Deposit program and policies.
Experience Required:
Minimum 2 years' experience in customer service (preferred) Minimum 1 year in sales or a sales role (preferred) Previous credit union or banking experience (preferred)

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Talking:
Clear, concise speech is necessary. Must frequently convey detailed or important Instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Average Hearing:
Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary Information.
Repetitive Motion:
Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Average Visual Abilities:
Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operating machinery.
Physical Strength:
Sedentary work and standing for long periods of time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.) Must be able to exert up to 25 lbs. of force
