Job Summary:
The Head, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting serves as the organization's senior authority on complex accounting matters, U.S. GAAP interpretation, and technical policy governance. This role leads the preparation of all external financial reporting, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, partners with internal stakeholders on transactional accounting, and oversees the internal reporting framework that supports executive decision making. The leader in this role will guide a high performing team, influence cross functional partners, and drive excellence in accounting accuracy, reporting transparency, and control rigor. They will operate as a trusted advisor to senior executives and collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, FP&A, Audit, and key business units.
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as the company's subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP, including emerging standards, complex transactions, consolidation, revenue recognition, lease accounting, financial instruments, stock‑based compensation, and business combinations. Develop, maintain, and communicate company‑wide technical accounting policies; ensure consistent application across all entities and business units. Evaluate and document the accounting implications of strategic initiatives (e.g., new product offerings, acquisitions, divestitures, system changes). Partner with Finance, Legal, and Treasury to assess and structure transactions to ensure compliance and optimal financial outcomes. Lead the preparation, review, and timely filing of all external financial statements and disclosures (e.g., monthly/quarterly/annual reporting packages, lender reporting, Board materials). Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and clarity of disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements. Coordinate with Legal on regulatory updates, disclosure requirements, and filing strategy. Collaborate with Investor Relations to support messaging tied to public‑facing financial information when applicable. Oversee the internal reporting framework that provides timely, accurate, and decision‑ready financial information to senior leadership. Partner closely with FP&A to align internal reporting with business performance indicators, forecasting processes, and strategic analysis. Develop standardized internal reporting templates, dashboards, and analytic insights to improve financial transparency across the enterprise. Review and support month‑end and quarter‑end close activities to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with technical accounting policies. Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, automate recurring deliverables, and enhance data quality. Serve as primary liaison with internal and external auditors for technical accounting interpretation, audit requests, financial statements, and disclosure reviews. Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, support control design improvements, and strengthen documentation for significant judgments and estimates. Oversee remediation plans for any deficiencies identified during internal or external audits. Lead, coach, and develop a team of technical accounting and reporting professionals, ensuring strong performance, effective succession planning, and functional excellence. Partner with cross‑functional leaders (FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, HR, Business Operations) to ensure cohesive financial interpretation and streamlined reporting processes. Provide training and education to the broader Finance organization on new accounting standards, policies, and reporting expectations. Complete mandatory risk, compliance, and policy training as assigned. Adherence to and application of Envestnet legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations and testing as requested. As part of the responsibilities for this role, you will understand and readily support Envestnet's established corporate business practices, policies, internal controls and procedures designed to create value or minimize risk.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required. 50+ years of progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting leadership and external reporting responsibilities. Deep expertise in
U.S. GAAP
; strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Demonstrated experience drafting and reviewing complex financial statements and disclosures. Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives, influence senior leaders, and manage high‑impact deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
Big Four public accounting experience and/or experience in a public company environment. Experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting automation tools. Strong executive communication skills with the ability to distill technical concepts for non technical stakeholders.
