Under general supervision, reviews claim for severity and assignment of the claim file to the adjuster and other requested activities associated with the claim assignment.
Shift could be either:
8am-4:15 or 9am-5:15 EST. Shift is based on business Need.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Uses analytical thinking skills to determine the nature/severity of the claim and identifies the appropriate claim adjuster/business segment based on assignment rules and/or other pertinent criteria. Identifies and establishes appropriate claim suffixes in order to set up a claim to be in an ability to pay status. Accountable for reviewing a loss and applying the appropriate suffix level. Reviews claim file using business acumen and industry knowledge to ensure key data elements are complete and accurate. Reviews loss for missing information and identifies appropriate policy information and validates coverage. Plans appropriate claim adjuster activities and organizes based on line of business. Reviews and applies special handling instructions for claim routing. May include routing of declaratory judgments and subpoenas. Creates required correspondence for the insured and state. Collaborates with senior team member when aware of a major loss to make call to on-duty adjuster. Maintains an external focus by making call-outs to insureds, agents, attorneys and others to determine appropriate claim assignment. May also initiate or respond to inquiries for file information, further research, claim status or additional matters. Reporting Relationship Typically Supervisor or above Skills, Knowledge and Abilities 1. Knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance. 2. Knowledge of claim file set-up and assignment procedures. 3. Good interpersonal skills including strong phone and email etiquette. 4. Strong data entry skills and attention to detail. 5. Good verbal and written communication skills. 6. Good organizational and follow-up skills. 7. Good listening and customer service skills. 8. Ability to work independently and effectively in a high volume environment. 9. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software. Education and Experience 1. High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Some college preferred. 2.
