Modern office setting The Health Insurance Agent is responsible for building relationships with clients and providing exceptional service by helping them navigate the complex world of health insurance. This involves educating clients on available options, understanding their unique healthcare needs and budget, and recommending suitable health insurance plans. The agent plays a crucial role in ensuring clients' well-being and financial security by providing them with comprehensive and affordable health coverage.
Responsibilities:
Prospecting and Lead Generation:
Proactively seek out new clients through various channels like referrals, networking, and community events.
Client Needs Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive consultations to understand clients' specific healthcare needs, budget constraints, and preferences regarding coverage.
Policy Recommendation and Sales:
Present tailored health insurance solutions that match clients' needs, explaining benefits, coverage options, networks, and premiums clearly.
Enrollment Assistance:
Guide clients through the enrollment process, ensuring accurate completion of applications and necessary documentation.
Customer Service and Support:
Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their queries, concerns, and policy changes promptly.
Claims Assistance:
Help clients understand their benefits and navigate the claims process, providing support and advocacy.
Policy Renewals:
Monitor policy renewal dates and proactively reach out to clients to discuss potential changes in coverage or premiums.
Staying Updated:
Keep abreast of changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and insurance products to provide accurate and up-to-date information to clients.
Administrative Tasks:
Maintain accurate client records, process policy applications and renewals, and handle documentation.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Licenses:
Shield Insurance will provide the resources to obtain and maintain a valid state health insurance license.
Experience:
Prior experience in sales, customer service, or the insurance industry is an asset but not required
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong sales and negotiation abilities. Empathetic listening and problem-solving skills. Ability to build rapport and trust with clients. Thorough knowledge of health insurance products and regulations. Strong organizational and time management skills. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, CRM software).
Additional Information:
Compensation:
A combination of base salary ($35,000 - $45,000) and potential commission ($30,000 - $50,000) based on sales performance in the first year.
Work Environment:
Office-based, with travel required for client meetings and networking events.
Annual Requirements:
Maintain active state health insurance license, complete all annually required credentialing and continuing education.
