Commercial Lines Account Manager Build Insurance Group Bergenfield, NJ Job Details Full-time $65,000 - $85,000 a year 1 hour ago Qualifications Teamwork Experience at insurance agencies Account development Property & Casualty License Client services experience Independent insurance agency experience Customer relationship management Account management experience Time management Full Job Description Hybrid Preferred | Exceptional Remote Candidates Considered Own Relationships. Solve Problems. Build Something Bigger. At Build Insurance Group, we believe commercial insurance is about far more than processing policies. It's about protecting businesses, building trusted relationships, and giving clients confidence that someone is looking out for them. We're a growing independent insurance agency investing heavily in technology, AI, standardized processes, and employee development. We're intentionally building specialized roles so our Account Managers can spend less time on paperwork and more time advising clients. If you're looking for an agency where you'll simply answer emails and process endorsements, this role is not for you. If you're looking for a place where you'll own relationships, solve problems, and help shape the future of a growing agency, we'd love to meet you. What You'll Be Responsible For As a Commercial Lines Account Manager, you will own a portfolio of commercial clients from beginning to end. You'll become the trusted advisor they call first—not just when something goes wrong, but because they know you're proactively looking out for their business. Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary contact for your assigned commercial clients. Build long-term relationships based on trust and responsiveness. Conduct annual coverage reviews. Provide strategic insurance guidance. Communicate proactively throughout the year—not just at renewal. Renewal Management Develop renewal strategies well in advance of expiration. Gather updated underwriting information. Coordinate with carriers and producers. Present renewal options and recommendations. Ensure every renewal is completed accurately and on time. Risk Management & Client Advocacy Identify potential coverage gaps. Review contracts and insurance requirements. Manage inspection recommendations. Advocate for clients with carriers. Help clients make informed insurance decisions. Book Growth Identify cross-selling opportunities. Strengthen client retention. Build relationships with carrier underwriters. Help grow the value of your assigned book of business. What Makes This Role Different We've intentionally built support around our Account Managers. You'll work alongside dedicated processing support that helps prepare renewal packets, organize documents, retrieve policies, maintain agency data, and complete administrative workflows. That allows you to focus on the work that creates the most value: Building client relationships. Solving insurance problems. Advising business owners. Protecting your clients. What Success Looks Like After your first year: Clients ask for you by name. Renewals are proactive instead of reactive. Inspection recommendations are completed before deadlines. Your clients feel informed, protected, and appreciated. Your book experiences strong retention and continued growth. The Right Person For This Role You'll likely thrive here if you: Enjoy talking with clients and building relationships. Pick up the phone instead of sending five emails. Take ownership of problems until they're solved. Escalate issues early rather than waiting until the last minute. Are highly organized and proactive. Enjoy continuous learning. Want to be part of improving processes—not just following them. Qualifications Required Commercial insurance agency experience. Active Property & Casualty License (or ability to obtain quickly if permitted). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional client service. Preferred Knowledge of construction, real estate, or investment property insurance. Experience with general commerical accounts such as manufacturing/ restaurants Experience with HawkSoft Agency Management System or Applied. Experience marketing accounts with multiple carriers. Knowledge of construction, real estate, or investment property insurance. CIC, CISR, or other industry designations (or willingness to pursue them). We're looking for someone who enjoys ownership and accountability. This role may not be the best fit if you: Prefer to communicate primarily by email. Avoid difficult client conversations. Need frequent reminders to follow up. Wait until deadlines become urgent before acting. Prefer processing paperwork over advising clients. Why Build Insurance Group? We are building more than an insurance agency—we're building a company where talented people can do their best work.
