This role requires strong credit judgment, sound risk assessment, and strict adherence to federal and state regulations, as well as company policies. The Underwriter balances risk and profitability while delivering strong customer experience through effective communication and collaboration. In the Role Evaluate borrower creditworthiness, loan risk, collateral/appraisals, and expected yield. Analyze financial and credit data to make informed underwriting decisions within established approval guidelines. Recommend appropriate loan terms and conditions while balancing risk and reward. Communicate decisions clearly and professionally with internal partners and external stakeholders. Ensure full compliance with federal and state lending regulations and company policies. Manage multiple loan requests efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Exercise independent judgment in ambiguous or complex credit scenarios. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Strong verbal and written customer communication skills. Demonstrated integrity and sound judgment in decision-making. Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on results and quality. High learning ability and adaptability. Preferred Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Experience in Direct Lending and/or Non-Prime Lending environments.
Schedule Hybrid:
4 days in office (Mon-Thurs) Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-7:00 PM (local time) Saturdays, 7:30 AM-1:00 PM (local time; up to 3 per quarter) Who We are OneMain Financial (
