In this fast-paced role, you'll prospect new opportunities, build lasting client and referral relationships, and work with multiple carriers to deliver quality coverage and service. The typical starting salary is $65k; through a combination of base salary, bonuses and uncapped commissions, typical total first-year compensation range is from $65k to $125k.
Job Summary:
Responsible for prospecting, generating, developing, and managing a book of small commercial insurance business. Counsels and advises prospects and policyholders on matters of protection and coverage. Is responsible for a specific volume of quality new business quoted and written within company guidelines. This role combines prospecting and new-business production with consultative sales, quoting through multiple carriers, and coordinating policy placement and renewals.Job Responsibilities:
Source and develop new small commercial accounts (typically business accounts with revenues under $10M) through prospecting, referrals, networking, and inbound leads. Utilizes coverage knowledge to counsel and advise prospects and existing policyholders on matters of protection and coverage based on a needs and exposure assessment by obtaining data and relative information concerning their business. Recommend appropriate insurance solutions (BOP, general liability, property, commercial auto, workers' compensation, cyber, umbrella and surety/bonds). Conducts front-line underwriting risk evaluation in accordance with established rules and guidelines. Prepare and present quotes and proposals by obtaining/comparing quotes from multiple carriers using agency management systems, CRM and carrier panel rating platforms. Meets goals for volume of quality new business and cross sell opportunities quoted and written within company guidelines. Works collaboratively with internal and agency partners to deliver a best-in-class customer experience. Build relationships and trust with referring agents within the region to build COI/lead generation streams Provide timely service for endorsements, cancellations, audits, and claims liaison as needed. Stay current on carrier appetite, new products, underwriting guidelines, and industry trends.Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Familiarity with common small commercial products: BOP, general liability, property, commercial auto, workers' compensation, cyber, umbrella and surety/bonds Experience with networking, prospecting for new business and driving top of funnel leads from various sources Experience using agency management systems, comparative raters Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Property & Casualty license (or progress toward them. You will be required to obtain relevant licenses upon being hired.)Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years' experience selling small commercial lines in an independent agency or carrier distribution channel Proven track record of meeting production targets; demonstrated book of business or established referral sources Designations such as CLCS, CISR, CIC, or CPCU (or progress toward them)Skills & Competencies:
Consultative sales approach and client-focused problem solving. Demonstrated analytical skills to understand complex coverage details and underwriting guidelines clearly to small-business owners Collaborative mindset and comfortable working in a high-volume agency environment. Highly effective verbal and written communication, persuasion and negotiation skills. Ability to build a sphere of influence in the community and participate in community networking activities Effective time management and ability to work well independently in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to navigate numerous computerized data entry systems or other relevant applications simultaneously while advising customers Bachelor's degree or equivalent business background plus a minimum of 1-3 years of insurance or sales/service-related work experience.About Us Pay Philosophy :
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location.
