Job Description
Agency Underwriter As an Agency Underwriter, you will be responsible for communicating directly with People's Trust Agency Partners regarding company directives, underwriting decisions, guidelines, and requirements through phone queues and email correspondence. You will have the opportunity to evaluate and determine an appropriate course of action for new business submissions, reinstatement requests, endorsements and policy changes, and address billing inquiries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Effectively communicate with agents regarding a variety of underwriting questions pertaining to new business submissions, reinstatements, inspections, policyholder communications, billing information, cancellations, endorsement requests, and required documents. Function in a team environment and share in responsibility for incoming calls. Work independently and manage changing priorities effectively. Ensure timely processing in a fast-paced environment. Proactively resolve issues with strong skills in problem-solving and resourcefulness. Understand new and renewal business guidelines for proper risk selection and policy eligibility. Ability to assess information from a variety of sources and make sound underwriting decisions to reduce unnecessary exposure. Proficiency in reviewing required policy documentation for accuracy and acceptability. May handle special projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications and Skills :
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A minimum of a high school graduate or GED is required; a Bachelor's or Associate's Degree is preferred. Two years minimum experience in Property & Casualty insurance or relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a 4-40 Customer Service Representative, 2-20 General Lines, or 20-44 Resident Personal Lines License. Professional certifications and designations are beneficial. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and online search skills required. Desire to contribute to a positive work environment. Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing. Ability to interact on a professional level with agents and policyholders. Exhibits critical thinking and analytical skills with high attention to detail. Resourceful and skilled in working independently to carry out assignments to completion. Ability to develop judgement and assess risk. Able to work extended/additional hours during storm season, if necessary. Maintains the integrity of the company and provides exceptional, best-in-class customer service.
