ABOUT THE JOB
(JOB BRIEF) Underwrite borrower requests for lender consent on actions pertaining to loans secured by commercial real estate. Underwriting will include quantitative and qualitative analysis of legal documents, property financial statements, rent rolls and real estate collateral in addition to borrower organizational structure and management experience. Transactions recommended for approval must conform to the terms of existing loan documents and loan servicing agreements. Transaction types include but are not limited to assumptions, transfers of interest, partial releases, easements, alterations to collateral, modifications and property management changes. Implement servicing standards in underwriting requests, and in working with internal and external clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Underwriter will communicate with borrowers, attorneys, third parties and real estate investors to gather and analyze information required to underwrite approximately 50 transactions annually. The Underwriter will negotiate transactional terms that identify and mitigate the risk to the noteholder for each transaction and are in the best interest of the lender. Transactions underwritten will be moderate to highly complex. A written credit memo summarizing the request and recommendation is prepared by the Underwriter and presented to the Company's internal authorized signors as well as other loan servicers and rating agencies with approval authority. Work with legal counsel and support staff to document and close each transaction. Marginal functions include, assist the Transactions Managers with hiring, training, mentoring, process improvement and with special projects as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS BS
in Business/Finance 3-4 years commercial mortgage loan servicing and/or underwriting experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical skills Microsoft Word and Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in real estate which may include underwriting, closing, credit analysis, loan servicing, or special servicing.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
