www.berkleypublicentity.com Responsibilities The Underwriting Intern is a semester-long, part-time internship opportunity for a college student interested in gaining practical exposure to commercial insurance underwriting. The intern will train with underwriting team members and support the review, analysis, and servicing of renewal accounts for Berkley Public Entity business.

This role is designed to provide meaningful learning experience in underwriting fundamentals, risk evaluation, account documentation, and cross-functional collaboration while contributing to the department's service standards and business objectives. Responsibilities Participates in training and shadowing opportunities to learn the underwriting process for Berkley Public Entity renewal business, including account review, risk evaluation, pricing considerations, and adherence to underwriting guidelines Assists underwriting team members with gathering, organizing, and reviewing account information, documentation, and data needed to support renewal underwriting activities Applies research, analytical, and critical thinking skills to support basic underwriting analysis and develop an understanding of public entity insurance exposures Learns how underwriting interacts with other departments, including claims, actuarial, and operations to support effective account servicing and business decisions Manages assigned tasks and deadlines in a professional manner while balancing academic responsibilities and a part-time semester schedule Performs other relevant duties as assigned Qualifications Education Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program with a focus in Risk Management, Business, Insurance, Finance, or a related major preferred Rising Junior or Senior preferred GPA of 3.0 and above preferred Qualifications No prior insurance or underwriting work experience required Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills Ability to assess priorities, manage deadlines, and follow through on assigned tasks Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team in a professional office environment Interest in insurance and underwriting preferred Coursework or knowledge in insurance, business, finance, or risk management is preferred Skills Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related business applications Location Morristown, NJ Part-time, 20 hours per week during the semester Additional Company Details The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role include: •
