Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Our Middle Market team is currently seeking an Industry Segments Specialist. This is a full-time, exempt role. Position is eligible for Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Position Summary The Industry Solutions Consultant supports the development and execution of industry-focused underwriting strategies by creating, maintaining, and enhancing underwriting resources, industry intelligence, and educational content. This role serves as a key partner to Middle Market underwriting organization, helping build industry expertise, improve underwriting consistency, and support profitable portfolio growth across assigned industry segments. Primary Focus Industries Retail Professional Services Medical Facilities Cultural & Media Hospitality All Other Industries Middle Market Programs Key Responsibilities Industry Knowledge & Content Development Build, maintain, and enhance Industry Hubs for assigned industries, ensuring underwriters have access to current, relevant, and actionable resources. Develop and update underwriting guidelines, industry insights, risk profiles, best practices, and reference materials. Create foundational content, tools, and resources that support underwriting decision-making and industry specialization. Ensure industry materials reflect emerging trends, market conditions, competitive developments, and underwriting priorities. Industry Research & Analysis Conduct ongoing research on assigned industries to identify emerging trends, risks, opportunities, and market developments. Monitor competitor activity, industry publications, economic indicators, and regulatory changes to provide actionable insights. Attend industry seminars and conferences as needed. Support the development and execution of industry strategies through analysis and recommendations. Assist with portfolio reviews by identifying areas requiring further evaluation, monitoring performance indicators, and recommending potential actions. Training & Education Partner with Industry Solutions Directors to develop training programs, presentations, job aids, and educational resources. Support initiatives that strengthen underwriter knowledge, industry expertise, and risk assessment capabilities. Contribute to onboarding and continuing education resources for underwriting teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with Product, Actuarial, Marketing, Claims, Corporate Underwriting, and other business partners on industry-focused initiatives. Support the development of industry-specific value propositions, growth strategies, and underwriting approaches. Participate in cross-functional projects to improve underwriting effectiveness and industry-focused business results. Advisory Support Serve as a resource to underwriting leadership and underwriting teams regarding assigned industries, with a primary focus on content development, research, and educational support. Respond to industry-related information requests and provide analysis to support underwriting initiatives and strategic priorities. Qualifications Commercial insurance underwriting experience. Bachelor's degree in Business 5+ years of insurance, underwriting, industry research, consulting, or related experience. Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. Experience developing business content, training materials, presentations, or reference resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Capable of internal networking and developing cross-functional partnerships to influence outcomes Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint and Teams. Preferred Knowledge of middle market underwriting and industry segmentation strategies. Experience working with industry data, portfolio management, or competitor analysis. Professional insurance designations (CPCU, ARM, AU, or equivalent) preferred.
