Position Purpose The Senior Residential Quality Control Underwriter plays a critical role in a high-performing, deadline-driven environment focused on rigorous loan-level analysis, repurchase risk evaluation, and secondary market compliance. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who brings strong technical underwriting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to operate with precision while managing multiple priorities. You'll be trusted to think independently, communicate clearly, and contribute to a team that values both performance and collaboration. Beyond the technical work, this role requires the ability to confidently engage with internal stakeholders and external partners, including investors, issuers, and servicers, while representing the companies' capabilities and standards. You will also play an important role in supporting and guiding junior team members, helping to strengthen team capabilities while continuing to develop your own leadership skills. What You'll Do Re-underwrite previously closed and delinquent mortgage loans, including full credit, income, asset, and collateral analysis. Conduct representation and warranty testing and document findings in a clear, audit-ready format. Analyze complex borrower financials, including self-employed tax returns and layered income structures. Evaluate collateral using appraisals and supporting valuation tools. Review fraud detection findings and incorporate results into underwriting decisions. Interpret title reports, mortgage documents, and full loan files from origination through securitization. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations including TRID, RESPA, TILA, and QM/ATR. Support peer reviews and contribute to internal process improvements and system testing. Participate in deal and document reviews as needed. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members. Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements and investor guidelines.
