The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking an experienced individual to work as an Associate Portfolio Manager on the Investment Performance & Analytics team. Under the general direction of the Head of Investment Performance Analytics, the Associate Portfolio Manager provides independent analysis and consultation regarding the development and implementation of various risk management, investment program strategies, processes and controls consistent with investment policies and procedures, using all available resources to meet objectives. The incumbent performs the following complex duties requiring the highest degree of independence, confidentiality, creativity and discretionary judgment. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills: Ability to perform analysis and evaluate performance and attribution data for all CalSTRS' funds, aggregates, and indices. Experience with developing functions and controls to ensure accurate performance methodology, calculation, benchmarks, composites, hierarchy, and reporting. Ability to analyze cost measurements and tracking of all investment related costs and expenses across the entire global investment. Experience in consulting and participating in the implementation of asset allocation among various types and classes of investments consistent with policies and procedures. Ability to support and cross collaborate with the Head of Investment Performance Analytics on data governance and readiness tasks for all other analytical tools, including the data warehouse and AI strategy. Ability to provide leadership to staff and participate in personnel processes including recruitment, hiring, training and Performance Management. Experience with researching, analyzing and managing investment processes for operational efficiency to strengthen the Investment Branch internal control environment, ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations and policies. An incumbent who possesses a professional certification in one of the following designations: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential. Only one 5% base pay differential is eligible regardless of the number of certifications. Relocation benefits may be available. In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025. This program reduces employees' monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is NOT subject toPLP 2025.
