Job Description

Charleston Field Technology & Asset Manager Job Description This role owns the end-to-end lifecycle of field technology, vehicles, and calibration assets that enable technicians to operate effectively in the field. The position is responsible for configuring, securing, testing, deploying, and supporting all technician hardware and diagnostic systems, while ensuring alignment with OEM and software vendor requirements. The role serves as the highest tier of technical escalation for complex hardware, system, and diagnostic issues, while also managing inventory, fleet coordination, procurement, and documentation standards. Success in this role requires strong hands-on technical skills, operational rigor, and comfort working in a fast-moving, field-based environment where uptime and reliability are critical. Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Own setup, configuration, testing, shipping, and daily troubleshooting of: Technician laptops and phones (durable and consumer-grade) VCIs and vehicle interface hardware Peripheral tools required for ADAS calibration Perform laptop partitioning, hard drive cloning, firewall security, and system imaging Manage and support VMware environments used for diagnostic software Maintain standardized builds aligned with OEM and software vendor requirements Provide Tier-3 technical support and troubleshooting for complex hardware and system issues ensuring all equipment is available, functional, and tested This will require screen sharing with a technician to get them through steps to ensure they are able to use tooling to finish each job. Test new hardware and software configurations prior to field deployment Manage lifecycle of equipment (purchase, deployment, inventory tracking, repair, replacement, retirement) and maintain accurate inventory tracking of all IT, Vehicles, and Calibration assets Manage relationship with our fleet partners; this includes vehicle maintenance tracking and monitoring of gas card usage Support finance with purchase approvals and requests Work with operations teams and vendors to procure, deploy (upfitment, wrapping, and shipping), and decommission new vehicles, developing standards on inventory audits and management of field assets Maintain spare inventory for rapid swap and testing purposes
Administer Google Workspace and Keeper:
Gmail account creation and management Google Drive access and permissions Keeper password system Create and manage billing account and systems setup within TRAK and other platforms Maintain clear documentation for: Hardware standards and approved configurations Imaging and cloning procedures Inventory and asset tracking processes Required Skills Qualifications 3 - 5 years of hands-on experience supporting hardware-focused IT environments, preferably in field-based, technical, or operational settings Strong hands-on experience with laptop hardware and durable computing systems, hard drive cloning and system imaging, disk partitioning, VMware Experience supporting hardware used in automotive, government, military, or police environments preferred Prior ownership of both IT support and hardware logistics Familiarity with field-based or mobile technician operations Experience with inventory management and procurement Comfort working in a highly operational, non-corporate IT environment Familiarity with creating or contributing to internal training materials, SOPs, or technical guides. Comfortable providing constructive feedback and coaching in a professional, team-focused manner.
