POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for interviewing members for loans and loan related questions including input, posting, and preparing all documents necessary for closing all types of consumer loans including promotions. Assists in quoting rates for and processing real estate loans (first and second mortgages). Obtain NMLS license within first six months of hire date. Meet monthly assigned loan production goal. Cross sell additional products and services. Mail loan paperwork, distribute loans to branches, and coordinate closing with branch personnel. Audit all loans booked to insure completeness and accuracy. Assist the branches when needed. Type and handle miscellaneous paperwork including denial letters, approval letters and promotional materials. Maintains files and answers and directs telephone calls. Contact members for loan information and advise members of approvals and promotions. Monitor and verify Department check supply. Complete miscellaneous projects as assigned. Prepare for and participate in credit union promotional sales and events. Provide professional and efficient service to members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 1.
Assumes responsibility for providing effective secretarial and clerical support for all phases of loan processing activities and promotions. a. Prepares paperwork for loan applications. Runs reports, retrieves credit ratings, reviews files, figures point scores, and works up applications, obtains and verifies supporting documentation. b. Performs posting functions and prepares all necessary documents for closing of consumer and real estate loans. c. Mail loan paperwork. Distribute loan paperwork to branches and appropriate personnel. d. Coordinates and processes loan closings. Ensures that each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, processed, approved, and disbursed. e. Types and mails approval, denial letters and related correspondence for promotions, as assigned. f. Disburse documents to Loan Officers for follow-up. g. Receives, screens and properly direct incoming calls. Greets members promptly and answers routine questions or directs them to appropriate personnel. Records and relays messages. Assist branch personnel when requested. Collects and distributes all incoming mail or written correspondence in department mail box. h. Completes consumer and real estate (first & second mortgage) loan processing duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. i. Contact all members on the approved loan report and notify them of the approval and necessary documentation needed to fund loan and schedule funding appointment. j. Contact all members on the in-progress report to collect additional information/documentation to be able to decision loan. k. Meet loan production goals and cross sales goals set by supervisor. l. Participate and prepare for sales and products promotions. m. Discuss and calculate payment options and amounts on existing loans as requested by borrower. n. Collect all Supporting Document packages and image all documents and ensure proper scanning into Synergy. o. Monitor the check supply to ensure there is a sufficient supply for the day and that all checks are accounted for, and unused supply of checks is properly secured at the end of the day. Prepare and forward the end of day check totals to accounting. p. Review loan files and provide decision recommendation to loan officer. q. Adheres to new policy and procedure changes. r. Assists with new staff training in consumer loan application input, processing, and funding. 2. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members and external contacts. a. Resolves (or refers) requests and problems promptly and courteously. Answer member questions pertaining to promotions, loans, balances, and payoffs. Assist walk-ins. b. Assist the Branch personnel as requested by your direct supervisor. c. Keeps members properly informed of Credit Union policies and procedures. d. Maintains and conveys the Credit Union's professional reputation. 3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and management. a. Completes assigned reports and tasks for Supervisor or Loan Officers promptly and accurately. b. Supports and assists area personnel as needed. c. Maintains departmental files. d. Attends and participates in meetings and training as required. e. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. 4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. a. Performs miscellaneous clerical and secretarial functions as needed. b. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. c. Covers for area personnel as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
High School graduate (some college preferred) and required consumer loan and NMLS training and certification.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of consumer loan products and services. Knowledge of loan processing functions and related requirements and procedures. Flexibility learning or cross-train in POCU's mortgage products.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Three to five years of related experience. Credit Union/Financial Institution experience preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Strong typing abilities. Good verbal public relations skills. Able to operate calculator, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and related computer applications. Well organized, ability to multi-task and time management skills.
