Mortgage Loan Officer - Member Advantage Mortgage UMassFive College Federal Credit Union - 3.3 East Longmeadow, MA Job Details Full-time $50,000 - $300,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications MLO License Customer communication Loan Originator License High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans by helping clients navigate the home financing process. This role involves assessing borrower needs, recommending suitable loan products, and guiding applicants from initial inquiry through closing. Success in this role requires strong sales ability, financial knowledge, and a customer-focused approach. UMassFive partners (and are an investor-owner) with Member Advantage Mortgage (MAM) to provide our members with expert solutions when it comes to their home buying needs. MAM shares UMassFive's passion and dedication to service excellence for our members. The position reports directly to MAM and works in close partnership with UMassFive management to review, evaluate, and coordinate mortgage loan applications.
Essential Functions:
Consult with prospective and existing clients to assess financial situations and home financing needs Recommend appropriate mortgage products (e.g., conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo loans) Collect and analyze financial documentation, including income, credit history, assets, and liabilities Pre-qualify and pre-approve borrowers based on lending guidelines Complete and submit accurate loan applications and required disclosures Maintain ongoing communication with clients throughout the loan process Coordinate with processors, underwriters, appraisers, and title companies to ensure timely closings Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company lending regulations Develop and maintain referral networks with real estate agents, builders, and other partners Monitor market trends, interest rates, and competitor offerings High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field preferred Active Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license (NMLS) required Proven experience in mortgage lending, banking, or financial services Strong understanding of mortgage products and underwriting guidelines Excellent communication, sales, and negotiation skills Ability to build and maintain client relationships High level of organization and attention to detail Proficiency in loan origination systems (LOS) and
Microsoft Office Preferred Skills:
Established network of referral partners Experience meeting or exceeding sales targets Knowledge of compliance regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, TRID) Ability to work independently and manage a pipeline of loans
Compensation & Benefits:

Work Environment:
This position may be based remotely or work at a branch location; however, if primarily working remotely, they must be available to attend in-person appointments as necessary at one of our branches. This position is primarily sedentary with extended periods of keyboarding and communication through speaking and hearing required.
